When it comes to wine, I’m only known for one thing more than drinking it – and that’s talking about it. I can’t help it – it fascinates me.
I actually came to enjoy wine by accident. I was just out of college and at a corporate cocktail party, and I knew that I had to be on my ‘best behavior’. Therefore I decided to order something that I could sip, but didn’t necessarily like.
Whoops.
While I survived the night professionally unscathed, from there on out I realized that I might actually like this stuff, which presented an even bigger problem. I was bitten.
The wine that really hooked me was 1999 Rosemount Estate Diamond Label Shiraz. A reasonably priced, well rounded wine, this one captured my attention for some reason, and sent me on my way.
After a few years of trying different wines from all over the world, our shared love of wine sent my new bride and I off to Napa & Sonoma Valleys for our Honeymoon. Little did we know that the impact of that trip would lead us to decide to relocate to CA for a few years – simply to be closer to ‘The Valley’. This would further allow us to taste and experience all that California wine offers – up and down the coast from Santa Barbara, to Paso Robles/SLO, Monterey, Santa Cruz Mountains, Napa & Sonoma, and all the way up to Mendocino & Lodi.
While I’m not a wine expert, sommelier, or vintner – far from it, in fact. I’m just yet another purple-toothed opinion on the InterWeb. Damn, maybe that should have been my domain name. However, I do love wine, as well as talking about it.
This blog may end up only being read by me, or the whole world, but either way I’m going to be honest, candid, hopefully enlightening, and a little entertaining – even if you are just laughing AT me.
And that’s fine, just gimme a refill.
